Over the last few months, HBS and its employees joined Long Island Cares, Inc., the Harry Chapin Food Bank to help end hunger on Long Island.  Everyone at HBS brought in nonperishable food items during the Annual Hauppauge Industrial Associations Summer Food Drive.  HBS contributed more than 550 pounds of food.

In addition to distributing more than 5 million pounds of food to nearly 600 member agencies, Long Island Cares seeks to heighten public awareness about hunger and provide skills  to foster self-sufficiency among the population that benefits from its services.

Many times, hunger and poverty are hard to see.  Sometimes by outward appearances we may not know a family is struggling or that a school age child does not have enough food at home.  People needing help are often filled with shame when they seek assistance, but we can all help.  For more information please visit Long Island Cares website at http://www.licares.org/
